The three-day Citizen Journalism Workshop (supported by The American Center and K C College) concludes on Sunday.
For the last two days 59 participants were introduced to the civic administration, policing, Right to Information and media laws. Those who addressed the participants included Seema Redkar, Brijesh Singh, Krishna Raj Rao, Vinay Somani, and Manju Nichani. The participants were a mix of students, professionals and senior citizens. They were, also, introduced to reporting and writing in sessions delivered by Shishir Joshi and Aloke Thakore.
Maharashtra’s top cop D. Shivanandan dropped in and shared his ideas on citizen journalism vis-a-vis the police. He said the role of citizens in helping the police perform their duty can range from informing the police using help line, helping accident victims without fearing the police to asking the state government to implement the recommendations of the various Commissions and committees.
The last day of the workshop has sessions on Consumer Rights, and writing and technology for citizen journalism.
